It is so exciting to communicate with different photographers. That’s why I continue the topic “5 photo tips from …” 🙂 Today’s article will be dedicated to Olga, a reporter photographer who works for Vinnitsia Information Portal “VezhA” and cooperates with the local American soccer team. In her free time she creates fabulous female portraits. And Olga’s photo tips are presented below:

The first and foremost tip: take as many photos as possible. Here less and “just in case” do not mean better. You don’t have to publish the footage, but you should always take many shoots, especially if you feel that this is exactly what you need at the moment. Even if your shooting is poor according to some standards, it will give the kind of experience that will help you in further development.

The second tip follows from the first one: do not be afraid to make mistakes. As a rule, mistakes are part of our personal experience that helps us progress. And I’m not talking about “flooded horizons” and shooting against the light because of which a beginner can be sometimes “booed”, it rather a tool for creating a picture that is in tune with you personally. I generally believe, that there is no notion of error in art, but this does not mean that any work itself is infallible. In most cases it should just find a response in the one who creates it.

Third tip: get inspired by other authors. Over time, personal technical skills will help to be inspired by someone else’s vision of the world and sharpen your own vision for your style. The only negative moment is the “over-inspiration” where you borrowed everything from another author and contributed nothing yourself, thus losing yourself and joining the crowd of identical, indistinguishable photographers. Another problem is that in the course of time a person starts to believe that this style comes from him personally and will not change anything because of not seeing the reason “Why?”.

The fours tip: ask those who can give you the answers you need. Yes, experienced photographers may seem “arrogant” and “devaluing”. They say: ‘How come you do not know such simple things”. But we all once did not know something.

The fifth tip: do something that is interesting for you untill it is interesting, but don’t forget about the types of shooting that you try not to use. The result of this may not always be pleasing, often due to personal bias, but it can also be a rewarding experience. Plus any shooting is always a training of your skills (see tip one).

Get inspired, learn and don’t stop.
