1. Make your own Mood Board

First of all, create your own inspiration board, for example here or on Pinterest. You could add to the board some pictures of the area, addresses and prices. So you will already have a plan, what you must see, at what period of time and what there will be in general.

2. Take Minimum Equipment with you

A mobile phone, camera and one favorite lens should be enough. Well, two lenses 😉 Do not take all your photo equipment with you. But remember that chargers, backup batteries and SD cards are very important.

3. Take pictures

Sometimes I am afraid to take a unique photo. Only imagine how many moments weren’t captured: funny, naive and occasionally shocking. Do not make the same mistakes, stop being afraid! P.S. : Remember about self-preservation instinct and a “personal guard” 😉

4. Use Auto-mode

You can always use your favorite photo mode or auto mode. As a rule on a trip there is no time to take another picture.

5. Morning is our everything

Wake up as early as possible, if you want to see the clean streets and architectural monuments during the sunrise and do not want to see the backs of the tourists.

6. Combine perspectives

Show the same place from different perspectives. Combine the landscape and close-up picture of the same object.

7. Pay Attention to Details

Various signatures in the local language, unusual statues, traffic signs and prices – all these details will be interesting.

8. Take Photos of Street Art

Street art conveys the atmosphere of the city as well as monuments. But it has an advantage, maybe tomorrow there will be painted something else and you will have the unique photos.

9. Add People to the Picture

Ask the person for permission if they have noticed you. Do not forget to smile as well.

10. Take photos of Food

While traveling it is also important thing is to get to know the local local cuisine. And not only taste it, but also take pictures of it.

11. Color

Identify the dominant color of the location and try to create the photo collection where the same color will be used.

12. The World Through the eyes of …

Try to see at the world through the eyes of others, in a literal sense. Have you ever thought how the a dog or cat sees the world? When was the last time you photographed lying on your back or crawling on all fours? While traveling it’s right time to start.

13. Take Pictures during the evening time

Evening life is even more interesting than life during the day. But I do not recommend traveling with a tripod (we are not talking about professional and planned photo sessions). To make a high quality picture, you just need to find an area/surface, put a camera and try to make a shot from that point of view.

14. Photographer in the Picture

Of course “Please, take a picture of me!” is a common phase during the trip. But even photos for a family archive can be turned into something interesting. For example, do some actions (jump, smile, turn around), take pictures of hands or feet, or popular “Follow me,” and my favorite “Looking in the bright future.”

P.S.:

You are in a picturesque and amassing place. You spent quite some time do get there, so relax a bit, enjoy and observe the location not through the viewfinder.
